11:12 pm	No small actors I am officially a proud theatre teacher. My kids were amazing last weekend. They played to full houses and killed. I heard things from my principals today like "best middle school play I have seen"... which admittedly is not saying too terribly much but still. My kids blew me away. They made choices, worked the audience and made me laugh. It was one of those rare moments Thursday night when everything just clicked. I guess what I am saying is that after all the long days and the little paycheck and the numerous diseases and stresses, I remember why I took the job in the first place. 11:26 am	why? Why? WHY?? OK. So when they told me that I would get sick alot during my first year of public school teaching, I thought that they meant colds, flu, stomach viruses. I was not prepared to be diagnosed with a Staph infection, get a rash and scab from the bandaid covering said infection, quickly develop clusters of red bumps all over my body and then have bloodwork done to reveal that I also have Shingles. This is all, of course, during my last week of rehearsals before my first play opens. Holy. Crap. Current Mood: sick (5 Comments |Comment on this)

5:42 pm	Teaching Job I just got an email from my new principal saying that they still need to hire another teacher. She asked if I knew anyone who was looking. From what I understand it may be a part-time position. I know they need someone to teach sixth grade theatre arts but they may add on some classes of ISS or something if you need to be full-time. The opening is for Griffin Middle School in Frisco ISD. The school is right off the Dallas North Tollway so it's pretty easy to get to from Dallas. And as a bonus-- I am the other theatre teacher! 12:08 pm	I didn't go to work this morning because I wasn't feeling well and I was really tired. I took a shower and then just went back to sleep.... but then I got a call. The principal from Griffin Middle School in Frisco called to see if I wanted a job! She said I had a spark! Im not sure what that means but I got the job I wanted so I don't care. She said she wanted to make sure I still wanted it before she did all the official paperwork with my references and stuff and once she gets a hold of two of them, she will call me back and we can discuss more details. I love that district and I think I can find a great place to live nearby. I have just 2 weeks left now to find a place in Dallas for the fall before I have to go back to Nac for summer so I am glad that I found out early enough to go apartment hunting with Jared. I have been doing the happy dance all morning. Wow. I feel so lucky to have an offer from my first choice school. Current Mood: ecstatic (5 Comments |Comment on this)
